ANNAPOLIS, MD —As Canadian designers await updated LEED standards, they have a new tool to help them achieve their sustainable project goals: the LEED Canada NC 2009 Checklist from the International Masonry Institute.

Masonry offers immediate and measurable impacts that help create sustainable buildings. The LEED Canada Checklist helps achieve optimal performance and addresses masonry contributions up to 52 LEED credits on projects.

The LEED Canada Checklist was designed to help everyone on a LEED team prepare for the upcoming update to the original LEED ratings system. Registration for LEED Canada for New Construction and Major Renovations 2009 (LEED Canada NC) opens June 2010.

For a copy of the LEED Canada Checklist, contact greenmasonry@imiweb.org. Further information for designers, contractors and owners is available at www.imiweb.org/greenmasonry.

IMI is a strategic alliance of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers and their contractors to promote quality masonry construction, through craft training and technical assistance for the design and construction communities.
