Details, Technology Briefs, Tool Kits and more, explaining how to use masonry to the highest value on your project.
The Masonry Detailing Series (MDS) is an exhaustive collection of illustrative construction details and diagrams produced by International Masonry Institute (IMI) for architects and engineers to use as a design resource. This compilation includes hundreds of details for brick, block, and stone masonry systems, as well as details for ceramic tile, marble, terrazzo, plaster, rain screen systems, terra cotta, AAC, and masonry restoration. The details are developed by IMI’s technical team of architects and engineers, and are reviewed by International Masonry Training and Education Foundation (IMTEF) masonry apprentice instructors, Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers (BAC) journeyman craftworkers, and BAC union contractors to ensure constructibility.
The International Masonry Institute (IMI) is a strategic alliance between the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers and the contractors who employ those members. Through education, technical support, research and training the IMI works to provide a more efficient construction delivery system.
